Rich Sips:
Coeur d'Alene Cellars

Take a short drive from downtown Coeur d’Alene, and you’ll discover charming Coeur d'Alene Cellars - recently named Idaho Winery of the Year by Wine Press Northwest. Family owned and operated since its inception in 2002 by Kimber Gates and her parents, Coeur d’Alene Cellars was founded to produce top quality, artfully-blended Rhone varietals from fruit grown in the Columbia, Yakima & Walla Walla Valleys of Washington State. From the luscious 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (90 points, Wine Enthusiast) to the enticing, elegant 2007 BDX Blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon (91 Points, Wine Enthusiast), Coeur d’Alene Cellars’ Rhone-inspired reds are exceptionally appealing. Their highly acclaimed Syrahs include a rich, ripe, aromatic 2006 Stillwater Creek (Year’s Best American Syrahs, Wine & Spirits Magazine), Opulence (91 points, Wine Spectator Insider), and 2008 Cloud Nine – a rich, robust blend of Syrah and Mourvèdre. An assortment of white wines round out CDA Cellars’ impressive offerings, including  No. 6 White, Chardonnay, and L’Artiste Viognier (90 Points, Wine Spectator) – named in honor of Sarah Jane Gates, Kimber’s mother and label artist. Each bottle features watercolor labels inspired by the scenic North Idaho region, beautifully expressing the family’s true passion: the fine art of wine. Info: (208) 664-2336.
