Celebrate the Classics:
Cars, Craft Brews + More

(from the print edition, May 2012)

Memories of yesteryear come to life in North Idaho, where residents and visitors celebrate the sights and sounds of the classics. Kicking off the summer season is Sandpoint’s Lost in the ‘50s (May 17-20), a retro extravaganza that includes a classic car parade, bands, and a rock-n-roll street party. Located in Dalton Gardens, Classic Garage LLC is a regional mecca for antique and vintage car enthusiasts, offering upholstery and restoration services to collectors nationwide. Among their amazing automobiles available for purchase at press time : a 1955 T-bird once owned by Jack Lemmon, and a 1940 Packard 160 Super Eight Convertible Coupe. If you love classic cars as much as these guys, you won’t want to miss the annual Car d’Alene (June 15 & 16) – a weekend of car shows and demonstrations along historic Sherman Avenue in downtown Coeur d’Alene. This year, Car d’Alene coincides with the Summer’s Here Brewfest, June 16, 2-8 pm at the nearby Kootenai County Fairgrounds, which features over 30 local and regional craft beers, food and an informative “beer-ducational” pre-event. Remember, it’s Fathers’ Day weekend. And what dad doesn’t love a car show and a cold brew?
